German Brick Award 2021

In the framework of the German Architecture Prize 2021 for the housing project “Living Together” implemented in Hanover (Germany) was awarded with an acknowledgement prize. The German Brick Prize honors outstanding architecture and engineering that consists of brick buildings that are exemplary in terms of energy and design. The buildings should be committed to sustainable, resource-saving construction and make a positive contribution to the design of public space.

Jury: Thomas Auer, Christine Degenhart, Volker Kurrle, Jens Metz, Michael Pröll, MinR‘n Christine Neuhoff, Anne Kaestle, Robert Pawlowski

Evaluation: “With this urban planning successful densification of a heterogeneous environment, four compact buildings form communities with owner-occupied and rental apartments, as well as an inclusive residential project. The individual buildings allow beautiful views through and foresight due to their arrangement. Red clinker dominates the elaborately designed facades, emphasizes the clear cubic form of the houses and corresponds to the surrounding buildings. The architects demonstrate the clinker brick as an ornament by means of coffered brick panels set in an even frame structure.”
