National Head Office Friends of the Earth Germany – Berlin

With the construction of its new national head office, BUND is realising its aspirations as German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation by building sustainably and ecologically. The five-storey office building with a gross floor area of approximately 5.000 m² is being built on an already sealed plot on the Vollgut area in Berlin-Neukölln. The building is being constructed using sustainable materials in a timber-hybrid construction method. Photovoltaic panels on the roof will supply the building with electricity and geothermal energy will be used for heating. The courtyard and roof will be as green as possible. The new building offers space for around 180 workplaces as well as seminar and meeting rooms. With communal and conference rooms available to all BUND members, the new building will become an attractive meeting place that is orientated towards the common good. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on 6 October 2023 and moving in is planned for 2026.

BUND stands for Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation) and is an independent, federal NGO that has been dedicated to protecting nature and the environment since the mid-1970s.With over 650,000 members and supporters, 16 state organizations and 2,300 local and regional groups, BUND is one of the largest environmental associations in Germany today.
